At This Point in Time: Baby Boomer Generation

The Raelians consider August 6 1945 to be the start of the Modern Age. The year 2015 was the 70th anniversary of dropping the A-bomb on Japan. A new generation was born on that date.

The History

The atomic bomb gets its energy from the fission (splitting) of the nuclei (central cores) of uranium or plutonium atoms. The relationship between mass and energy put forth by the German mathematician Albert Einstein explains how the fission of heavy atoms can produce energy.

Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity, published in 1905, states that mass may change into energy according to the equation E=mc². In this equation, E stands for energy, m stands for mass, and c² stands for the speed of light multiplied by itself. This shows that an extremely small amount of mass will change into a large amount of energy. On this basis, if all the atoms in a pound of matter were completely changed into energy, they would release as much power as would the explosion of 10 million tons of TNT. However, nuclear fission does not transform atoms completely into energy. It merely splits them into smaller pieces. The total mass of these pieces is less than the mass of the original atom. The ‘lost’ mass changes into energy, according to Einstein’s formula.

The first atomic bomb, or A-bomb, exploded on July 16, 1945, near Alamogordo, New Mexico. It produced an explosion equal to that of 17,000 tons of TNT. Within a few weeks, on August 6, the United States dropped the first atomic bomb to be used in warfare on the city of Hiroshima. The fact that a single plane, the Enola Gay, could deliver such a destructive device revolutionized warfare, and the world entered the Atomic Age. At the same time, the generation that became known in the West as the Baby Boomers was born.

The Human Spirit

Symbolically, the ‘fallout’ from this destructive event shows as an accumulation of planets around the fourth quadrant of the chart. If the Ascendant represents the Eastern point and the Midheaven represents the Southern point, I should be able to safely say that the release of this energy took place in South-East Asia. However, Japan is more accurately described as the Far East, so the analogy is not precise. Nevertheless, the chart itself is impressive.
