Through the Looking Glass: Senescence in Retrograde

Freaky Friday (2003)

I know this film is a remake of the earlier Jodie Foster film (1976), but it’s closer to how things are now.

After spending the long weekend with Susan’s extended family (about 40 adults and children), I could see some of these generational issues firsthand. Each side thinks that the other doesn’t understand, and for the most part, this is true. But to watch the same thinking happening to the next generation tells me that this is actually how life works.

The title of this post comes from the fictional book that is being discussed by Lindsay Lohan while in Jamie Lee Curtis’ body. Each in their own way has to learn to cope with the pressures of their opposite’s life. As always, newer understanding is reached by walking a mile in another’s moccasins..

I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment
I could be you
Yes, I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
You’d know what a drag it is
To see you

Verse 6 “Positively 4th Street” by Bob Dylan

Are you looking forward to “Freakier Friday” coming to theatres near you very soon? I know I am.

PS: And for those who wonder what Senescence in Retrograde really means, check it out here.
