Christmas Wishes

After all these years, I decided it was time to write my wife a poem. I hope you like it.

For My Wife, Susan

Susan Miller

Come Christmas Day, the year’s events complete
Her journey, from the previous time of joy.
Remarkable as it may seem to a boy,
I feel the light of her soul and a heat
So strong that the coldest heart, hands and feet
Melt into the comfort of corduroy
And the day becomes like a shiny toy,
Sitting in front of the hearth: can’t be beat

Would that I could say what’s within my heart:
I see such love that life takes on a hue
So clear, that nothing can cloud my reason.
How much is too much on her loving part?
Even the animals around us view
Susan, as the joy of this Yule season.
