America’s Got Talent: The Champions

For most people, this will not be an issue, but AGT has a new voting system for this six-week special run of the show. In the first show, last week, ten ‘champion’ acts were brought back to go head-to-head. One went straight through to the final show with the pressing of the Golden Button, while the remaining nine were voted on by 50 (count them, 50) ‘superfans’, one from each state. In other words, no one else got a say in who goes through to the finals.

Now it seems that there’s an App for that.

No, seriously…

I read the instructions, and from last night’s performance and forward, you can use the app to ‘influence’ the Superfans during the live shows. What a gimmick!

I suspect that was the only way they could stave off criticism about regular fans not having a say in who wins. After all, who were the original Superfans and are they just friends (or family) of the AGT management?

The watching public will vote to stop watching with a flick of their remote control, especially if they think the ‘fix’ is in. What a shambles!
