DNA: To Test or Not to Test, that is the Question

Ancestry.ca

About a week ago, I had a message from someone who had found my post on adopted.com. The person wondered if he might be the one I was looking for. He was born in London, Ontario almost 8 months from the conception date, and since he was adopted from birth, the only thing he knew about his mom was that her name was Patricia.

It might be a bit of a stretch to suggest that he is the (potentially) long lost son from 1967. In fact, after exchanging photographs, I failed to see any direct resemblance to me. But I’ll never know for sure, unless, and until, he takes an Ancestry DNA test. Then, if he is a match, he would show up immediately.

Hence, the question. He has indicated that he would be willing to take the test, but I’m thinking that it may be a step too far, since his DNA might not match mine. Then what? Sometimes, not knowing is enough. One can dream, eh?
