Deep-fakes
I’ve noticed lately that there are more and more “AI-enhanced” YouTube videos circulating. The giveaway to me is the hand gestures. The lip-synching is almost perfect, but the hands don’t gesture naturally. And, if you look at the background traffic passing a window, as one video portrayed, it was obvious that the vehicles were on a loop of some sort. So, even Kamala Harris is being ‘deep-faked’.
I challenge you to even find that video now, and yet it was published only a couple of weeks ago. But, just to show you what an AI-enhanced video looks like, check this one out, featuring Rachel Maddow:
I think what’s happening is that the audio comes from blog recordings and some outlets have added visuals. But that’s concerning, because it implies that these are not ‘real’ in the normal sense of the word.
If you look at the details below the video, you will see a clue:
How this was made
Altered or synthetic content
Sound or visuals were significantly edited or digitally generated.
Who, or what, can we really trust, anymore? Be aware, folks.
