My cousin Cathy Miller is The Singing Quilter. We discussed writing another song together. I was going to focus on the ancestry.ca work I’ve been doing since 2006. Instead, I found this one in my manuscript, “Time Defined”. It might be worth looking at.
Used to Time
Time used to keep me running
It tried to make me scared of myself
Causing all my native cunning
To view me as uncared, on the shelf.
I thought I’d never
Get used to time
But now I have no fear
I’m becoming more
Used to time
As each day creates a year.
Time forced me to concentrate
On up-and-coming events of worth
I would never want to wait
For the future to make sense at birth.
I thought I’d never
Get used to time
But now I have no fear
I’m becoming more
Used to time
As my way becomes more clear.
Time took time
To get used to me
Now I find I’m
Getting used to time
Can’t you see?
Time is not my enemy
But time is not my friend in need
It makes me look inside to see
Infinity to the end, indeed.
I thought I’s never
Get used to time
But now I have no fear
I’m becoming more
Used to time
As my life seems ever freer.
I’m becoming more
Used to time
As my death comes even nearer.
