
When I was young, the only route from Muskoka to Toronto that we traveled regularly was The King’s Highway 11. In those days, it went through downtown Barrie. (Actually, it still does, but it’s not the main route anymore: Highway 400 is.)
So, the point of this post is the memory I used to have of the gas station where we stopped, every time on our way down south and then back up north. Every single time.

In the years between 1960 and now, I have had recurring dreams about this Supertest Station. When I moved back to this area in 2007, this spot has been converted to an apartment building. I hadn’t even realized that any part of my memories had been replaced, until I saw this photograph on a Facebook memory page. Now my memories are revealed and the need for the dreams is gone. I am very grateful for that.
