The Great Escape (March 24, 1944)

We all presume that Hollywood films are the product of someone’s imagination. Literally, how could it be true? Were the Germans the best at keeping their prisoners-of-war encamped? Well, yes and no.

The 1963 version was superseded by the 1988 version, called The Great Escape II: The Untold Story.

But the truth can be seen in the astrology chart for the exact moment the breakout occurred: 10:30 pm.

There are three inconjuncts and they involved the Ascendant and Midheaven. In other words, the timing had to be exact.

Moon Inconjunct Midheaven

With this aspect you must learn to make your emotional needs and desires for pleasure fit in with your growth and development in the world. It is possible that these problems could make it difficult for you to choose a profession or a course that would give your life a sense of purpose. Or you may be unable to follow one path consistently. In other worlds, your emotional needs may be in conflict with your long-range goals. You may know what you have to do, but not feel much like doing it. Or your feelings may actually color your perception so much that you really do not see what has to be done.

(It would have taken place during a new moon, so light would have been nonexistent.)

Mercury Inconjunct Midheaven

It is very important that you develop your mind and your powers of thought, so that you can use them to attain whatever objectives you set for yourself. However, before you can accomplish this, you may have to solve certain problems. You may feel that there is a tension between your natural spontaneous view and what is taught by your parents and other adults. When you are older you may express this tension by making indiscreet remarks that totally get in the way of your objectives.

(More than half of the soldiers who escaped were shot dead, without legal justification.)

Saturn Inconjunct Ascendant

With this aspect you probably have a rather serious attitude toward life and other people. It may be quite difficult for you to simply go out and have a good time. You want to be serious and to spend all your time performing significant tasks. This attitude may have developed because you were discouraged from enjoying yourself when you were younger. You may have been made to feel that only work is important, that play serves no useful purpose.

(This is also indicative of being in a PoW camp, with no means of escape, a very serious situation.)

Perhaps, reading the book would have been a more accurate depiction of what happened leading up to that day, and its aftermath.

At any rate, this is another example of what astrology can show us, behind the scenes.
