Bridgerton (Season Three)
This season has been a long time coming. They say patience is a virtue, but the fear of being single your whole life calls for desperate measures during desperate times.
Taking the spotlight this season will be Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and her longtime crush and good friend Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). Things didn’t end well for the two last season after Penelope heard Colin tell his friends that he would never court her. To top it off, Penelope had a falling out with her best friend Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie), after the former realized Penelope was the town gossip, Lady Whistledown.
Every time Penelope looks in the mirror, she gets more and more radiant. Since this is only the first half of season 3, so far, the fairy tale elements have only partially been shown. The belief in one’s own worth cannot be underestimated, especially as it is reflected in someone else’s eyes. Penelope and Colin have been friends since childhood, but time has changed them, and their attraction has become stronger. In the 4th episode, the carriage ride home at the end gets very heated, and, in my opinion, very real.
I won’t say any more for the moment, but the preview for part 2 does hint at a Cinderella moment for Penelope. Obviously, her secret life as the Mayfair gossip, Lady Whistledown, is about to come out.
(And, to show you how my consciousness works, I’ve heard the Lady’s name as Thistledown, which sounds far more evocative that was originally intended, I’m sure.)

Thistledown are gossamer ‘will of the wisps’ that float everywhere on the wind: a bit like gossip…
