A Valentine’s Film that Isn’t From Hallmark

Love Again (2023)

Valentine’s Day is less than a week away. On a whim, we watched this film on Netflix last night. It was wonderful: the actors were charming; the situation unreal; and the grief was palpable. But, against all odds, love won again.

I guess what should have been a clue to the ‘otherworldly’ element of the story was the gigantic lightning flash that filled the night sky over New York City, near the beginning of the story. Here’s why:

It was Susan who reminded me later that the lightning flash may have connected Mira’s texts to her dead boyfriend’s phone to Rob’s work phone. By the way, the names are very clever: Mira Ray (mirror); Rob Burns (as stated); even Mira’s boss’ last name, Valentine. No stone was left untouched, no leaf misused.

So, if you want to fall in Love Again, catch this sweet film.
