The Revolution of a 60’s Folk Singer-Songwriter

A Complete Unknown (2024)

Coincidental? I write about the feud between John Lennon and Bob Dylan yesterday, and then I find this film on Crave last night.

The day that Dylan went electric at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965 has gone down in history of folk music as a betrayal of his fans. But, as one who basically ignored Dylan before that reinvention of his music, I became an ardent fan afterwards. Other performers have done similar switching as an evolution of their art, without too much fuss, with the exception of Madonna. This film covers the time before his motorcycle accident in 1966.

Bob Dylan (May 24, 1941)

I knew there had to be something in Dylan’s chart that would point to his need to change things up, all the time. The Yod (Finger of God) pointing at his Moon/Saturn conjunction in the 5th House is made up of inconjuncts to the Ascendant and Midheaven. His birth time would have to be very accurate to have this configuration exist.

Motorcycle Accident (July 29, 1966)

Yes, this is a classic “exit point”. The accident’s Saturn is conjunct Dylan’s South Node, while the accident’s North Node is conjunct Dylan’s Moon/Saturn conjunction (as the point of his Yod). No wonder he stepped away from the spotlight for a decade. A lot of speculation accompanied the crash.

Did he need an excuse?
