Rap Song? The Rapid Fire Delivery Suggests So

Like a Rolling Stone (1965)

As far as I know, Rap music didn’t exist in 1965. But when Bob Dylan wrote and performed this song, something changed, permanently.

I saw, somewhere, that Dylan even surprised himself when the first four lines came to him in the writing process. It was like a ghost doing the writing for him. I know that feeling well. For sure, he inspired some of my own mid-60’s poetry.

The best song, ever.
