The Beast in Me (2025)

The Emmys brought this show to my attention when Matthew Rhys won a Best Actor award for his portrayal of Nile Jarvis, a man who might or might not, have killed his wife Maddy. Her body was never found, so a suicide note was the only proof of Nile’s innocence. When he moves into a quiet New Jersey neighbourhood, he comes to the attention of Aggie Wiggs, a Pulitzer prize winning novelist, stuck in the doldrums with writer’s block.

We’re two-thirds of the way through the eight episode Netflix series, and it’s turning into a whodunit with hints of psychological insight. “Normal” people don’t kill other people, unless they’re feeling thwarted. That’s when the beast comes out. I’m looking forward to see how this one turns out.
