When Kim Jong-Un took over from his father as Supreme Leader of North Korea, most people saw him as just the “Young One”. They assumed he would be a pushover, someone that the USA could easily control. How wrong they were.
Kim Jong-Un’s birth is shrouded in mystery. Was it 1983 or 1984? And what time of day? No one knows for sure. The only reason I’m tackling his birth chart is because I was prompted to do so: the ‘hint’ was the punning version of his name, shown above, which came to me early this morning.
Researching Astrological details brought me to a website that suggested that his birth may have coincided with a Mars-Pluto Conjunction on his Ascendant. That sounds entirely reasonable, to me, so I have erected his chart with that configuration.
Sun – 16º Capricorn 35′
Moon – 6º Pisces 9′
North Node – 14º Gemini 10′
Mercury – 1º Capricorn 14′
Venus – 8º Sagittarius 0′
Mars – 28º Libra 13′
Jupiter – 27º Sagittarius 24′
Saturn – 14º Scorpio 29′
Uranus – 11º Sagittarius 30′
Neptune – 29º Sagittarius 36′
Pluto – 1º Scorpio 55′
Ascendant – 29º Libra 52′
Midheaven – 4º Leo 52′
2nd House cusp – 28º Scorpio 11′
3rd House cusp – 0º Capricorn 19′
5th House cusp – 7º Pisces 53′
6th House cusp – 6º Aries 22′
I will concentrate on this configuration, because I think it holds the key to our greater understanding of this man. (Text from Planets in Youth by Robert Hand)
Mars Conjunct Ascendant
You are strong-willed, and people quickly realize that you are not someone to trifle with. You have all the classic qualities of Mars — self-reliance, courage and daring, personal aggressiveness and independence. You need to have complete control over your own life, but there is a danger that you will be too quarrelsome and domineering.
Mars in Libra
You have a strong sense of fairness and hate to see anyone treated unjustly. When you are aware of injustice, you try to correct it, even when it is not to your advantage.
Mars in the Twelfth House
You tend to work in secret and to act behind people’s backs, which you should try to avoid. Your lack of self-confidence makes you so afraid of direct action that you do everything indirectly. Even as an adult, you may prefer to be someone who works behind the scenes.
Pluto in Scorpio
The children of this era should be much more concerned with the forces underlying the surface of reality.
Pluto Conjunct Ascendant
This aspect can have a very powerful effect on your life, but unless you learn how to use it responsibly, it could create problems. You approach other people and situations in life with great intensity. It is difficult for you to take anything lightly, for you either get into something totally or not at all. In fact, when you get wrapped up in some project or activity, you may neglect everything else in your life. This aspect has a compulsive quality that makes it difficult for you to do anything in moderation.
Pluto in the First House
You enjoy having power over people and being in a position to make changes. Sometimes you seem to work behind the scenes, in that other people see what is happening, but they cannot see who is doing it. It is extremely important that you develop a srong sense of responsibility about using power, because you will probably always use it to some extent, and if you are not careful you can create problems in your life and the lives of those around you.
Mars Conjunct Pluto
You have a very strong will, although you may express it in subtle ways. If you don’t get your way, you may lose your temper, but when you see that that will get you nowhere, you change your tactics. The greatest problem with this aspect is that you may decide that getting your own way is the most important thing in life and that the only way to get it is by controlling others. Unless you are taught to have a high regard for other people’s rights, you may trample upon them. But in that case people are likely to gang up on you and try to stop you at every turn, which will make you feel very frustrated and even farther from attaining your objectives. Instead of manipulating people, you must learn how to handle others creatively, so that they benefit from whatever happens as much as you do.
In your desire to be agreeable, you must be sure not to compromise something that is important to you. Sometimes it is necessary to fight, and you should learn when and how to do so.
Kim Jong-Un may appear crazy to the rest of the world, but in North Korea, they know he is crazy: crazy as a fox.
