What Makes a Star?
It’s such an intangible. Some people are made for the stage, and some aren’t. When I run across a birth date and time, I sit up and take notice.
Does Paul O’Grady know that it’s spelled out in an article on Wikipedia? 7:30 am on 14 June 1955 at St. Catherine’s Hospital, Tranmere. (I suspect this was copied from a biography.) Anyway, I erected his chart and got the following result:
The Chart

There are three major influences that colour a person’s life: the Sun; the Moon; and the Ascendant.
When these three are spread out in the birth chart, the effect can seem ‘balanced’. But what happened when they’re not? The preponderance of energy is startling.
Paul has a chart that exhibits this tendency for imbalance.
Sun in Gemini
You are, in many ways, an eternal child. Your mind is bright, alert, curious, flexible, playful, and always eager for new experiences — and your attention span is often quite brief. You grasp ideas quickly and once your initial curiosity has been satisfied, you want to go on to something else. You crave frequent change, variety, meeting new situations and people.
Sun Trine Neptune
You are imaginative and sensitive to anything colorful, beautiful, or magical. You are attracted to artistic and creative pursuits, music, and mysticism. Your spiritual values color your whole perspective and approach to life. You are idealistic and perhaps impractical.
Sun in 12th House
You tend to get involved in the helping professions or in activities where your efforts are hidden, behind the scenes, unacknowledged, or unknown to the public. Asserting yourself or getting up in front of an audience may be exceedingly uncomfortable for you.
Moon in Aries
Emotional outburst are frequent with you due to your fiery temper and emotional impulsiveness. You express yourself very directly and honestly and no one has to guess what your true feelings are. However, you dislike showing any personal weaknesses or needs for support, comfort, and nurturing. You are often impatient with yourself and with others. You abhor emotional dependency and dislike “complainers”.
Moon Trine Jupiter
You are easygoing, agreeable, and tolerant, willing to overlook others’ mistakes, forget the past, and begin again on a positive note. You enjoy making others comfortable and happy, and sometimes overdo your generosity. You often feel that “everything will turn out all right no matter what I do”, and so become lazy and lackadaisical.
Moon in 10th House
You work well with the public and have an instinct for what the public wants and will respond to. Having a “nest” is not especially important to you, and you may invest more of your emotional energy into your career or public life than in your private life. Providing for and caring for others in a professional capacity is very likely.
Cancer Rising
Your moods fluctuate and change frequently and you are sometimes open, sometimes withdrawn emotionally. You communicate non-verbally and appreciate a person who can pick up subtle cues and hints, rather than having to make everything explicit. You never forget either kindness or unkindness shown to you.
Jupiter Conjunct Ascendant
You radiate a sense of confidence, well-being, and optimism, which inspires trust and good feelings in others. You like yourself and it shows. You expect success in life and you generally achieve it. However, you also tend to exaggerate or to overestimate yourself, and you can be sloppy and careless when it comes to details.
Uranus Conjunct Ascendant
You identify with the progressive, innovative elements in society, and with being a rebel, reformer, nonconformist, or iconoclast. You enjoy being original, unpredictable, and spontaneous, and insist on doing whatever you wish regardless of tradition, convention, or other people’s wishes. Others see you as “different’ but interesting and exciting.
Conclusion
That last entry is the key to Paul O’Grady. Uranus and the Ascendant are in the same degree of 25° Cancer, thereby making this why he could cross-dress up for years as Lily Savage. He says that he will only wear her clothes for pantomime, now. Such a shame.
Finger of God (Yod) Neptune Sextile Pluto both Inconjunct to the Midheaven: resentment of authority figures and rebellion are highlighted. There is a high level of intuition. Also, the need to keep some part of life secret, away from the intrusion of others. Guilt is a psychological result.
