It Took 50 Years to Happen Again

Diahann Carroll as Julia (1968)

Julia was a breakout television role for Diahann Carroll who was a model and movie actress in the 50’s and 60’s. The television show was also considered a breakthrough for having a female actress of colour being the headliner. It has been a long time since then for a new television show to do the same. That television show is All Rise.

As Lola Carmichael, Simone Missick has the same feistiness and good looks as Diahann Carroll. But whether this show survives will depend on whether the American viewing public will accept this situation happening again after all these years. Cheers.

Scandal didn’t count, since it was more of an ensemble effort.
