Is He Happy to be Back at the White House?
Hoping to monopolize the East Coast news hours last night, Donald Trump chose to leave the Walter Reed Medical Center (after precisely being there three days) and fly back to the White House (a 10 minute helicopter and motorcade ride) at 6:30 pm EDT.
To get the maximum effect, he stood on the back balcony of the White House, took off his surgical mask, and let the photographers and video cameramen take their best shots. He wanted to make sure that EVERYONE knew that he’d survived the coronavirus! But, by looking ‘presidential’, he sent the wrong message, at least to me.
Watching the live feed, last night, I noted that he was having trouble breathing. Perhaps I was projecting the impressions I got, but it seemed that he (quietly) gulped air as he stood there, especially after he’d first taken the mask off. It was like he was saying to the watching world, “I’m doing this for the American people, even if it kills me.”
I hope I’m just being paranoid.
