After a Long Gestation Period, and Extended Labour Pains…

The State of Israel is Born

Strange prompt, this one: I was listening to Andy Williams sing “The Exodus Song (This Land is Mine)” and I suddenly connected two events in history in my mind.

Firstly, though, I’d like to share the birth chart with you:

This is the exact moment when the declaration was read. As anyone who has seen the movie Exodus or read the book by Leon Uris knows it was a struggle to get to this point.

Following World War II, the life of the Jewish nation is uncertain. The United Nations is contemplating taking a vote on creating a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Until then, many Jews are exiled from much of Europe – especially Germany – and as they have nowhere to go, they are sent to detention camps among other places Cypress. Ari Ben Canaan, a Palestinian Jew, wants to smuggle as many Jews as possible into Palestine. In his mind, the easiest way to influence the United Nations vote is by sheer numbers residing in Palestine. Ari commandeers a ship with 600 Jews, and after some obstacles, manages to make it to Palestine. Ari grew up in a mixed Arab/Jewish community in Palestine. His best childhood friend, Taha, is Arab and is now leader of the Arab section of the community. Regardless of the United Nations vote, the road to Ari’s dream of a peaceful Jewish homeland in Palestine will be a difficult one because despite his own model community, extremist factions, both on the Jewish side and the anti-Zionist side, will never see living together in peace and advocate violence to achieve their own ends. Within this fray is widowed American nurse, Kitty Fremont. Kitty is initially naive about the conflict and hostile toward Ari’s means of achieving his goals. However, she ultimately falls in love with him and with his dream despite their religious and cultural differences.

So does this struggle show up in the chart? I think it does, with the two inconjuncts.

Sun Inconjunct Ascendant

Your relationships with other people can be very intense. While you are young, they may be quite difficult, because you feel that others will accept you only if you deny yourself in some way. Or you may constantly feel you should put off doing what you want in order to do what you have to do. Usually your ideas about what you have to do come from the people around you. Also, contacts with other people will frequently force you to make serious, major psychological changes. Difficulties in your relationships with friends and family are signs of profound internal changes.

You may find that no matter how hard you try to show others who you really are, they misunderstand you somehow. This is because the angular relationship between your rising sign and Sun sign indicates that your internal struggles are quite different from the energies that you show to the world. You are not intentionally dishonest with the world, you simply present a confusing complex of energies. As you get older, you will learn more about your effect on people, which will enable you to put the two sides of your personality together so that they work smoothly. Be patient and do not hurry. Look at each relationship as an opportunity to learn more about yourself through your effects upon others. You will know you have learned this when you no longer attract people who are psychologically difficult to deal with.

Jupiter Inconjunct Midheaven

This aspect can mean that you have mixed feelings towards adults and persons in authority over you. Although you know that they have your best interests at heart and that they want you to succeed at your objectives, it often seems as if their demands are keeping you from doing want you want. When you want to go off and have fun, for example, you are told to finish your work first. At times you want to break free of this restricting influence and go off by yourself.

The problem with this aspect is to find a balance between, on the one hand, expressing yourself creatively, perhaps artistically, and having a good time and, on the other hand, getting ahead in life, learning the ways of the world and finding an acceptable role in society. You know you have to make sacrifices in order to accomplish anything of value.

Because the rising sign is Libra, these aspects have a very strong influence on how the State of Israel views its allies and enemies, including their neighbouring states.

I’ve discussed this earlier event previously. It took more than 30 years and two World Wars to effect this result. That’s a drop in the Dead Sea when you compare it to almost 2,000 years since the Roman Empire scattered the Jews into Europe and Asia in 70 CE.

The Yod that connects these two charts proves their correctness: ‘agreement’ Sun is inconjunct ‘Israel birth’ Pluto and Mercury.

It was Destiny.

  1. cdsmiller17 says:

Even in fictionalized form, the story of Israel’s struggle to emerge from the “Mandate” (as the British and French called it) is a painful one. My Israeli ‘friend’ who likes to comment long passages on my Hebrew and Torah posts, LOL’d at my combined use of fiction and astrology this morning. Yes, I can see the irony, but ‘false narratives’ are the stories we tell ourselves about life.
