From Wales to Walla Walla, Washington

William W. Davies (August 9, 1833 – November 26, 1906)

Now, most of us would ask, “Who the hell is William W. Davies?” myself included. This is the man who wanted to bring the Kingdom of Heaven down to earth. And what else is his claim to fame? He decided he was the Archangel Michael reincarnated, with past lives of Adam, Abraham and David. So he split off from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) and formed his own group, based in Walla Walla, Washington. He claimed his first son was Jesus reincarnated and his second son was God, until they died. Now we’re definitely not in Utah, anymore, Toto. This is more like LaLa land.

This chart is totally randomized, and yet an interesting Yod appears, pointing at Pluto and formed from inconjuncts to Mars and the Midheaven. Even if only one half of that Yod is accurate, that’s still potent.

Mars Inconjunct Pluto (definitely)

You have a strong will and always want to have your own way. But very often it seems as if tremendous forces are working to prevent you from getting what you want. If you have this problem, it is because of the way you go about trying to achieve your ends. If you put too much force into your desire to get something, you may unknowingly alienate people because your aggressive manner shows that you will let nothing stop you from getting what you want. Even if that isn’t the way you really feel about it, you should recognize that your forcefulness creates this impression.

At certain times in your life, when there are great changes taking place within you and in your environment, you will have to work very hard to make your affairs turn out right. There is nothing to be done at those times except to do the work that must be done. Fortunately you have plenty of energy and enough endurance to pull through anything that you will encounter in life. You are basically tough and persistent. These changes are an integral part of your growth, and even if everything seems to go wrong they are necessary to your full development.

Pluto Inconjunct Midheaven (perhaps)

You may have trouble with older people who try to teach you how to effectively take control of your life. Even while you are young, you may resent their control over you and resist everything they are trying to teach you. To a great extent, your path in life will be shaped by your early confrontations with authority figures. Your parents would be well advised to give you as much control as possible over your own affairs and as much self-determination as you can handle. They should not try to keep an extremely tight rein on you, for if they do, you will explode and become very difficult to handle. Also your self-esteem would be damaged. Your parents and teachers should be very straightforward with you, because if you feel that people are not being honest with you, you will not be honest with them. You are quite capable of acting behind peoples’ backs if you consider it necessary or if you feel that you never get your own way.

(Yes, I can imagine both these descriptions apply…)

The Kingdom of Heaven began to collapse in 1880, when both Davies children died of diphtheria. Some of Davies’s followers sued him and won a $3200 judgment against him. As a result, Davies was forced to sell the Kingdom’s property, which essentially brought the Kingdom to a close. At the time of its break-up, there were 43 members of the group. Davies moved to a camp he owned on Mill Creek and briefly attempted to revive his following, but eventually gave up and moved to San Francisco. Davies returned to Walla Walla shortly before his death in 1906, and is buried at the Lyons Cemetery north of Mill Creek Road.

Unfortunately, Davies forgot that Jesus is quoted as saying that the Kingdom of Heaven is within you.

Maybe I should have written “This is (Wal)La (Wal)La Land.”
