Mixed Message: Saviour, Hero or Both?

It must have been the Carl Jung video where he was discussing whether the German people thought of Hitler as their “Father” that caught my eye. Jung stated that it was more complicated than that: he said that actually Hitler was seen by them as their Saviour. Oh-ho, thinks I, that’s food for thought.

Without naming names, someone in the recent court systems in the US has compared himself to Jesus. He sees the the legal processes as a kind of crucifixion (cruci-fiction) that is making him a martyr. In my opinion, he’s not even close. Especially, as Jesus spoke barely a word during his trial before Pontius Pilate. He certainly didn’t meet with the press before, at recess, and after the court day, to get his point of view across. No, this is a pseudo-saviour at best. Perhaps he’s really suffering from a Hero syndrome.

It’s the intention that defines what the world is dealing with here. Hence, the trading cards…
