Although this is now considered ‘old’ news, now, this 7.6 magnitude earthquake was something spectacular and deadly, at the same time.

That stellium in Leo occupying the 1st and 2nd Houses of the event chart demonstrates the power of the forces of nature. There are no inconjuncts (surprisingly), but the trine from Neptune to the Moon, Venus and Saturn and the square from Uranus to the Sun and Saturn may have been the triggering energies.
