The 1st Season had a Few Enigmas; Now They’re Solved

Black Doves Season 2 (2026)

I’m beginning to doubt my mental abilities. We started watching this show last night on Netflix and it went back to season 1, episode 1 and I’d forgotten most of it. I restarted the show and moved to season 2, episode 1. Even then, four episodes in, I realized that my memory, even of the flashbacks, was spotty, at best. Surprisingly, Susan kept saying, we’ve already seen this, even in the new season.

There is a shedload of violence here. It reminds me of “Lord of the Flies” for its inhumanity to others. But I cannot fault the story-telling: it’s excellent. Helen’s dependence on Sam is a bit much at times. The themes this time revolve around how vulnerable an operative gets when love enters their lives. Even though he’s gay, I suspect he loves Helen and that may be his downfall. Even Reed has a past indiscretion that may catch up to her. Will Helen’s past actions be exposed? It keeps you on the edge of your seat. But it’s worth the five or so hours to get through to the end. We’ll watch the rest tonight.
