Nickelback
(I chose their “Here and Now” album cover for my blog illustration because it features the steam clock in the Gastown district of downtown Vancouver.)
In the news recently is an item about a debate being conducted in the US Congress about Nickelback. What?!
The very fact that there needs to be a debate in a public forum about a Canadian group seems ludicrous.
And yet, this divisive subject has been heatedly debated in my own family. My son, Derek, hates them. And because they rose to prominence while I was living in England, I was unaware of the way Canadians felt about them.
I think they’re great, but I can’t say too much about them, lest I trigger an argument. So I quietly(?) listen to their songs on my iPod.

Conclusion
Taste in music is a fairly subjective concept. In the long run, it comes down to what you like and what you don’t like. Since I’m not a ‘follower’, I make up my own mind. And I really don’t care if you disagree with me.
P.S. The best advice…
Subsequently, I thought that maybe the ‘problem’ is that Nickelback appear to be having tooooo much fun. Music is such a ‘serious’ business, but they seem to be taking the proverbial “Michael”, as the Brits would say.
