Rocketman
(Based on a true fantasy.) Doesn’t that say it all?
Elton John is a force of nature. His music and Bernie Taupin’s words have been part of the soundtrack of our lives since the early 70’s. I’ve never liked him, personally, but there’s no denying his place in rock history.
This movie is too long; there’s too many drugs, too much booze. And the depictions (and hints) of homosexual lovemaking were unnecessary. And the need to show where (and how) these insane actions began made it feel like a very tedious psychiatric session.
Would I recommend it to others? No.
But, the young lad who plays the young Reggie Dwight was his doppelgänger.
P.S. The movie version of this song utilized the original video and inserted Taron Egerton in Elton’s place. Isn’t it amazing what they can do with CGI?
