Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad…

In the Search for Fame and Fortune

Three reality TV shows featuring singing contestants concluded their latest seasons during the same week. The finalists were stacked in favour of the boys (at a rate of four-to-one) in each show. Two of the shows ended up with the girls winning.

…In This Time of COVID-19

Each show usually relies upon the audience for voting and enthusiasm, so when two of them had to be socially responsible and broadcast from the contestants’ homes, history was made. Only The Masked Singer got to play out in front of their previously recorded ‘live’ audience. I’m not sure if the lockdown innovations worked, but it certainly changed the shows’ dynamic. These shows may never seem the same again.
