You’re Beautiful (2004)

My life is brilliant
My love is pure
I saw an angel
Of that I’m sure
She smiled at me on the subway
She was with another man
But I won’t lose no sleep on that
‘Cause I’ve got a planYou’re beautiful
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful, it’s true
I saw your face in a crowded place
And I don’t know what to do
‘Cause I’ll never be with youYes, she caught my eye
James Blount / Amanda Ghost / Sasha Scarbeck
As we walked on by
She could see from my face that I was
[Flying] high
And I don’t think that I’ll see her again
But we shared a moment that will last ’til the end
It was one of those moments. I had driven to the train station in Reading, and boarded the Intercity train bound for London Paddington in the Easter break of 2005. Coming up from the Underground station at Covent Garden. I saw an Irish actress* I recognized from television. She was with her husband, and yet she smiled at me. (See, I could have written these lyrics…)
Susan and I saw James Blunt in concert in Toronto in early 2008, courtesy of her family.
We shared a moment that will last ’til the end…
[*It probably wasn’t this actress after all, but at the time, she was the closest to her looks.]
