Once a Fantasy Writer, Always a Fantasy Writer?

Lewis Carroll (1832 – 1898) and C.S. Lewis (1898 – 1963)

This is probably too close to call: Lewis Carroll died on January 14, 1898 and C.S. Lewis was born on November 29, 1898; but technically it is possible. The Lewis name was the connecting link, to me.

What do you think? Is it possible that Lewis Carroll returned as C.S. Lewis? They have a similar look and their bachelor lifestyles seemed to echo each other’s lives. I’m going to say yes, based on how each man’s natal North Node is conjunct the other man’s Mars (natal for Lewis and ‘fatal’ for Carroll). Anyway, their fantasy stories were (and are) beloved by generations to follow.

Carroll and Nabokov are an interesting pair, if we’re playing the ‘Pairs’ card game with people. They’re all just a pack of cards.

If you are referencing the fact that both men have an overactive interest in underage girls, that may not be proof enough that they are connected.

I was rather thinking that they may be two of the most interlaced writers ever. Nabokov famously translated the Alice books into Russian before he left Russia. Lolita has many references to the Alice books hidden within it. Both left countless allusions, jokes, games and hidden meanings in their work. Both have documentaries on them in recent times suggesting they are both paedophiles, although there is no evidence that each was, aside from writing books featuring children, as you would think there should be, being two of the most heavily-studied literary figures in history. Nabokov studied, considered, and made references to Carroll his entire life. Lewis Carroll even visited St Petersburg on holiday, which is somewhat out of character for him, and Nabokov was later from there and had his childhood there.

When I looked at their charts together, I ‘felt’ intuitively that their intertwined lives were more on a intellectual level and not a spiritual one. But, I may post the results at a later date.
