And Writing about the Timing of Poems being Published

Last Words of an Unknown Soldier Poem (June 15, 1944)

I wrote about this poem in my post “Why I Write…” and now that I have explored the idea of charting when a poem is published widely for the first time, I thought it might be timely to try that with this one.

I randomized this chart for the day in question. What surprised me was Pluto being almost exactly conjunct the Leo Ascendant. This chart is reminiscent of the D-Day chart, with most of the planets in the final quadrant of the circle. But, obviously, the Moon has moved on since June 6th of that year. Perhaps the timing of the publication coincided with the news of the burgeoning success of the Normandy invasion. As always, it would have been informative if we were able to know when (what battle, for example) and where (somewhere in Italy, I guess) this poem was originally written. Timing is everything.

So, I’m Not Totally Convinced that I Wrote This Poem

This thought comes to me because I have since researched a great many past lives, and none of them seem to be attached to Italy during WWII. Was I just ‘inspired’ to write my “Reflective Sonnet” in the same colloquial style?

At first glance, I believe the answer is “yes.” But then, I wondered if I compared the poem’s chart with the publication of “Reflective Sonnet” would that yield a different story?

OK. This is where it gets weird. As I set up the chart for “Reflective Sonnet” I realized that it was published on the same day, but 31 years later. I have also randomized this chart, just to see what pops out. The Mars/Jupiter conjunction in Reflective’s chart is conjunct the Moon in Last Word’s chart. Hmm.

The Pluto/Ascendant conjunction in Last Word’s chart is conjunct Reflective’s Venus (all in its 12th House of the Unconscious). And Neptune in Reflective’s chart is opposite Last Word’s Uranus. That says it all: yes, definitely, these two poems are linked by divine inspiration. Wow.

There: another mystery is solved.
