Time Loops

The thing about watching shows about storylines with time loops is that there are paradoxes that cannot be easily explained away. Bodies is a case in point. I came away from the final episode with too many questions unanswered. That’s not a good result.

The most obvious is the question: how could Elias be in a time loop of his own making, when it is obvious that he was not the initiator of any of the events?

The next obvious question is: how can Iris exist in 2023, at the end of the final episode, if she doesn’t have her SPYNE equipment augmentation, when in 1890, it was missing and she was a cripple without it? Everyone else who time travelled disappeared after Elias chose to (finally) not set off the nuclear weapon. Iris was driving a taxi, and called the 2023 detective by name. That implies that Iris is an alternative version from the future. A sharp-eyed critic noted that KYAL (Know You Are Loved) was in the background of the final London scene in 2023. Does this imply that another season is coming?

In the Real World

Donald Trump seems to be having all his chickens coming home to roost. I’ll bet he’s searching frantically for a loophole that will get him out of his jeopardy. The only one he’s coming up with is total immunity as President. Will that hold up to SCOTUS scrutiny? His fingers are crossed, for sure. That’s why he threw his hat into the ring so early on. Hmm.

Trump is a real life version of Elias Mannix, the once and future dictator. His version of ‘paradise’ is a living hell for anyone who doesn’t agree with him. In Trump’s world, he doesn’t get mad, he gets even.

Will his loopholes be closed, legally? Or will he have to trigger a change? Who knows? I don’t.
