One Day (2024)
This show is described as a drama series. It certainly isn’t a lot of fun. A Romeo/Juliet style love story for the modern day. Dexter is a rich boy from London, Emma is a a poor girl from Leeds. They meet on St. Swithin’s Day (July 15, 1988) on their graduation day from the University of Edinburgh. The story covers the next 15 years on the same day. It is meant to be ironic, but depending on the weather for the day, not just the next 40 days is forecast, but for the next year as well.
So, why does everyone think this is a great love story? He’s shallow and ‘annoying’, she’s deep and ‘rude’. They don’t match each other’s energies at the same time, and their happily ever after ends in tragedy. No, I didn’t enjoy the ride. I expect it’s because I’m from the generation prior to theirs.
And Maybe the Racial Diversity Elements Made It an Unlikely Pairing

And, just to show you the juxtaposition of a different version with the drama series, here’s the film that was based on the same source document (the book) and covered the very same events.
Maybe I’m prejudiced, but I feel this is a more likely linkup between two divergent characters.
(Even the posters are the same, just to make the point…)

I am reminded that the correct way of spelling the day is St. Swithun‘s…
