It’s the Longest Unprotected Border in the World

The 49th Parallel between Canada and the United States of America

I’m bemused by the fact that Donald Trump wants to make Canada the 51st state. Does he not realize what a hornets’ nest he’d be taking on? Canadians have regional identities which are not easily united politically. Now that Justin Trudeau has tendered his resignation as Liberal leader, the dominoes may fall quicker than initially anticipated, and we could be looking at a government run by Pierre Poilievre.

But it’s not just the 49th parallel that divides our two nations. Even a small town like Derby Line, Vermont is partially in Canada. Okay, maybe the artificial barriers need to be removed, but the Great White North will be a greater thorn in the American flesh than they could even imagine.

President (elect) Trump: you have been warned.
