The Implied Completion of the Title is “…Like Daughter”

Like Father (2018)

Today is Father’s Day. It seems entirely appropriate that my youngest child should hint that this film reminds her of me. Watching it last night gave me a true glimpse of how she sees me.

Some of the biographical details for the father, Harry, match my own so far as my relationship with my son, so I can see how my daughter could relate Harry to me. “Regrets, I’ve had a few, but then again, to few to mention…” (My Way by Frank Sinatra). If I knew then what I know now, I might have done things differently. But, second-guessing aside, would it have been my life in the end? We can’t undo the past, but we can hope to make it better in the future by fixing relationships in the NOW.

Amen.
