250th Anniversary of the US Army (June 14, 2025)

This event was hyped as the 79th birthday bash for President Trump. He wanted to show American troops to the world, as they saluted him going past. What he didn’t expect was the passive insolence of the ordinary soldiers, which was reflecting the attitudes of their commanding officers. The wrong message, entirely.

Watching segments of the parade on TV and the internet, I was struck with how sloppy the marching was. It was obvious that the troops didn’t want to be there. In fact, if these men (and women) performed like that on a parade square, their Sergeants would have been screaming at them to look smart, to march in unison and to be prouder. Sadly, that was lacking. No wonder Trump looked miserable.
