Who are You Calling a Philistine?

It’s All Greek to Me

Recent news has come out that the Philistines may have actually come from Greece. That makes them “Westerners” to our way of thinking.

But it makes the pejorative term ‘philistine’ suddenly suspect. Have we been programmed by the Bible to see all Israelite enemies as our enemies, too?

It reminds me of the fact that Hollywood was (and still is) run by Jews. Just ask Mel Gibson. And the reason I bring this up is the movie “The Matrix”. The second sequel calls the base of the rebellion Zion. I wish they hadn’t done that. It smacks of Jewish propaganda.

But, to put this all into perspective, we need to remember that Jesus was a Jew, too.

Them’s Fighting Words

In the ancient past, the world was even more ‘dog-eat-dog’ than it is now. Which means, in effect, that one needed to fight to preserve his life, the best defence being offence.

So, we don’t need to judge the Israelites for what they had to do to keep their people safe. But, here’s the thing: the State of Israel is still working with that mindset, and it’s putting the rest of the world at risk.

And all those ‘events’ in the Middle East with Iran? It wouldn’t surprise me if the Israelis were working behind the scenes to ensure that the Arab nations keep fighting amongst themselves. It’s how they’ve managed to keep one step ahead of their neighbours.

Need I remind everyone that Israel has the atomic bomb, but no one is making them give it up? No wonder Iran is pissed off.

Conclusion

Oil is still at the heart of all the conflicts in the Middle East. The sooner we switch to a different energy resource, the sooner we can all rest easier in our beds at night. Amen.
