Peter O’Toole (Aug 2, 1932 – Dec 14, 2013)
When I was looking for proof of T.E. Lawrence’s birth time, I happened upon Peter O’Toole‘s birth chart. That ‘accident’ is the prompt for today’s post.
Lawrence of Arabia was breakout role for O’Toole, and he was nominated for the best actor Oscar for it. It must have been a challenge at 6′ 2″ to play a much shorter man, but the audience completely bought into his portrayal of Lawrence.
This one was also on my Kepler 7.0 computer program, so I didn’t have to go very far to find the details of his birth. What surprised me was the echo of the Yod pointing toward, but not at, the Midheaven. Instead, the focal point is Saturn and involves a Venus/Mars conjunct and a Mercury/Jupiter conjunct. On top of that, he has two T-squares involving Uranus, Pluto and Saturn/Midheaven, so I suspect he was the actor of his day best suited to play Lawrence.
Mercury Inconjunct Saturn
This aspect can have several different meanings. First of all, you may have hidden fears that are difficult to express, but they cause you to do things that others can’t understand. These may include fear of the dark or of certain places or people. Or this aspect can mean that you often feel depressed and sad for no apparent reason. You tend to see the serious side of life, and it weighs on you more than most people.
On the plus side, this aspect can make you a very careful thinker. You may not attempt anything beyond your abilities as you see them, but whatever you do attempt will be done very well. You are a neat and careful worker.
Venus Inconjunct Saturn
This aspect means that your family may make you feel that you are unworthy of love. Unless you are given a great deal of love while you are young, you will be attracted to cold and unfeeling people when you are an adult. Such people are an outward expression of your inner feeling of unworthiness.
Even without any pressure you are likely to be more disciplined than most people your age. You don’t go overboard in anything, and you feel strongly that your worth depends on what you do and how much you accomplish.
Mars Inconjunct Saturn
With this aspect there really is someone in your life who discourages you and makes you feel that your efforts are futile. You must learn to avoid negative people who make you feel bad about yourself. Your parents should work very hard to give you self-confidence and show you that you are a valuable and worthwhile person.
On the positive side, this aspect can mean that you control your aggressions and energies so that they work out constructively. But make sure that you do work out your aggression instead of keeping it hidden, because that can result in sudden bursts of temper, which may work against you. Also, if you repress these energies, they may turn against you and be expressed as illness or accidents.
Jupiter Inconjunct Saturn
You may have mixed feelings about authority. On one hand you respect and admire your parents, teachers and other adults who guide your growth, but at the same time you resist their teachings. At times you resent these people very much, because they seem to limit you.
The best solution is to know how to discipline yourself and structure your activities so that you do not have to contend with regulation by others. Then you will discover that your problems with authority come from within, not from the people who are trying to give you discipline and self-control from without. Perhaps the best way to handle this problem in your life is to make a reasonable evaluation of any situation, make up your mind rather quickly and stick to it until you have completed the activity.
Love and Hate (Again)
Just a small side note: here is another individual with a close conjunction between Venus and Mars but with their plants in two different signs. When we’ve seen other examples of this configuration, the person loves strongly, but has ambivalent feelings, too. I always wondered about his marriage to Siân Phillips…
