Dolly Parton (January 19, 1946)

It’s one of those lines that endears Dolly Parton to people: self-deprecating to the nth degree. But, for some unknown reason, she decided at a young age that when she grew up she wanted to look like the town floozy. And like the nation’s image of a good girl gone bad, she’s lived up to this ‘ideal’ ever since.

I knew that looking at Dolly’s birth chart, I would get to see why she turned out the way she did: Chiron in the 2nd House conjunct to Jupiter in Libra. Hmm.
The Jupiter conjunct Chiron natal aspect can indicate wounding related to your faith in life. This can be a hard and painful aspect, as Jupiter represents things that make life easier and more meaningful: abundance, wealth, spirituality, education.
With Jupiter-Chiron contacts, there can be some pain or wounding related to these life areas. Perhaps there is a trauma related to spirituality, or you don’t have faith in that there is enough for everyone.
Jupiter conjunct Chiron can indicate an unconscious belief that money is bad, or that it leads to trauma and excruciating pain if you want to live in abundance. Such experiences can indicate money struggles and seeing abundance as something unattainable, even bad on a conscious level.
Your optimism and faith can be also hurt with Jupiter conjunct Chiron in the natal chart. Perhaps there was a traumatic event that took your faith in life away. Some people with this placement become anxious and pessimistic. With Jupiter conjunct Chiron, your life philosophy can be infused with the vulnerable and painful energy of Chiron.
Jupiter Conjunct Chiron Natal
Because both energies are in the 2nd House, this amplifies the description in the third paragraph, above. And because the Chiron/Jupiter conjunction is the point of a triple T-square connecting the oppositions between Mercury, Venus and the Sun in Capricorn with the Mars/Saturn conjunction in Cancer, this is very powerful medicine, indeed.
Her Healing Connection with Kenny

If ever there was a couple of stars who seemed like work mates (you know what I mean: husband or wife to each other on stage), it’s these two. So, I wanted to see how compatible they were.

His Saturn in Aries conjunct her Part of Fortune, and his Part of Fortune conjunct her Ascendant seems to show how lucky they were to get to duet on “Islands in the Stream”. And his Sun and her Moon completes the connection. They may be different on the surface, but identical inside. They both were rags-to-riches individuals. Let’s look at the lyrics to that song…
Islands In the Stream
Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers
Baby, when I met you there was peace unknown
I set out to get you with a fine tooth comb
I was soft inside
There was something going on
You do something to me that I can’t explain
Hold me closer and I feel no pain
Every beat of my heart
We got something going on
Tender love is blind
It requires a dedication
All this love we feel needs no conversation
We ride it together, ah ha
Making love with each other, ah ha
Islands in the stream
That is what we are
No one in between
How can we be wrong?
Sail away with me
To another world
And we rely on each other, ah ha
From one lover to another, ah ha
I can’t live without you if the love was gone
Everything is nothing if you got no one
And you did walk in the night
Slowly losing sight of the real thing
But that won’t happen to us and we got no doubt
Too deep in love and we got no way out
And the message is clear
This could be the year for the real thing
No more will you cry
Baby, I will hurt you never
We start and end as one
In love forever
We can ride it together, ah ha
Making love with each other, ah ha
Islands in the stream
That is what we are
No one in between
How can we be wrong?
Sail away with me
To another world
And we rely on each other, ah ha
From one lover to another, ah ha
Sail away
Oh, come sail away with me
Islands in the stream
That is what we are
No one in between
How can we be wrong?
Sail away with me
To another world
And we rely on each other, ah ha
From one lover to another, ah ha
Islands in the stream
That is what we are
No one in between
How can we be wrong?
Sail away with me
To another world
And we rely on each other, ah ha
From one lover to another, ah ha
Islands in the stream
That is what we are
No one in between…
(Says it all, I think.)
The Last Word Belongs to Dolly
