It Makes a Change from Tracking Santa’s Progress

NORAD (May 12, 1958)

NORAD has been in the news lately, shooting down balloons and other aerial objects. That wasn’t its original intention: it was intended to help North America have an early warning against Soviet planes entering our airspace, in case they were carrying atomic bombs or nuclear warheads.

There are so many things wrong with this chart that they might just be right. For one thing, May 12, 1958 was the date of the final signing of the pact; but the place was probably in Washington, D.C. or Ottawa, Ontario. I’ve set it at Peterson AFB in Colorado, where the base is now. The time is also set for noon, arbitrarily, because I don’t know when exactly the signing took place. Still, that Yod pointing at the Sun/Midheaven conjunction from Jupiter and Saturn is significant, as far as I am concerned. And Pluto within 2° of the Leo Ascendant speaks volumes, too: USA and Canada wanted to make sure that they remained the biggest, badass bullies on the block.

For 65 years, they’ve kept us warm and cozy in our beds, assured that they have our collective backs.

How do you feel, now?
