His Reign Put an End to “Pax Romana”

Commodus (August 31, 161 – December 31, 192)

I’m sure you’ll understand why I’m returning to the scene of the crime. We watched Gladiator (2000) last night. The biographical details had been juggled about a bit, but the psychological portrait of Commodus was accurate.

Surprisingly, there are no inconjuncts, so the megalomania that he exhibited was the real thing. I suspect the Moon in Gemini was the cause. That he should think himself to be Hercules may be the result of the Pluto/North Node conjunction in opposition to the Neptune/South Node conjunction

Although Maximus is shown in the film to have killed Commodus in the Colosseum in a gladiator fight, Commodus was actually drowned in the bath by a wrestler named Narcissus. (How’s that for a Jungian twist?)

Hmm. Does that sound familiar?
