New Age Thinking?

There is Nothing New Under the Sun

Wrapping ideas from millennia ago in “New” robes doesn’t make them right. It’s just a different way to be rebellious with the ‘status quo’. Gnosticism has been around for a long time. The Roman Catholic Church sought to eradicate it by killing anyone who disagreed with its ‘religion’ [Middle English (originally in the sense ‘life under monastic vows’): from Old French, or from Latin religio(n-) ‘obligation, bond, reverence’, perhaps based on Latin religare ‘to bind’].

We all want the freedom to think and do as we want. There’s nothing worse for a human being than the thought that they can’t have their own way: “I have the right!”

When faced with a choice, “Not my will, but Thy will be done,” most would choose the selfish option. It’s only natural, after all. But sometimes we have to let go of our personal needs for the greater good.

But who exactly gets to decide what the ‘greater good’ is?

Complicated, isn’t it?
