Question: What’s the Dark Web?

Answer: If you don’t know, don’t ask!

Week after week, I hear the term ‘dark web‘ on the TV show Elementary. According to Sherlock Holmes, he goes to the dark web whenever he wants to buy some information or merchandise which he wants to keep secret from the authorities.

Imagine my surprise to discover that the dark web is actually a military application to keep their operations under wraps. They allowed the public access to it to further disguise their traffic, and [surprise, surprise] the criminal element of society became the next biggest group of users, after the military.

To ‘see’ how it works, take a look at this image:

The image at the top of this post is the famous Anonymous mask (styled after Guy Fawkes of the Gunpowder Plot). It is a little unclear, due to the low resolution. But what if you could see it more clearly?

Can you now see that the image is made up of all of us?

End of this lesson.
