Synastry
There is a branch of astrology that deals with the compatibility of individuals. Essentially two birth charts are erected, and then compared with each other. The results show where the attractions and distractions are. It can help predict which couples will stay together and which will come apart in time.
By way of example, let’s look at the life and loves of Charles, Prince of Wales:

Charles and Diana
At first glance, the interlocking lines of their aspects look for all intents and purposes to be a spider’s web of energy. These days it is quite unusual for two people with such a wide age difference to marry. The usual close ties of contemporaries that the larger, slower planets have in their birth charts are missing here. In fact, looking at any of these aspects reveal some insurmountable tensions.
Charles’ Saturn conjunct Diana’s Pluto
Charles’ Mercury conjunct Diana’s Neptune
Charles’ Ascendant opposite Diana’s Jupiter
Charles’ Uranus conjunct Diana’s Mercury
Charles’ Mars conjunct Diana’s Ascendant
Charles’ Sun opposite Diana’s Venus
Charles’ Uranus inconjunct Diana’s Saturn
Charles’ Saturn inconjunct Diana’s Jupiter
Is it any wonder their marriage ended in divorce?
Charles and Camilla

With Camilla being the ‘older lady’ here, Charles’ need for Mother Love (Camilla’s Moon conjunct Venus in Cancer) was satisfied. As Camilla’s planets are bunched in the 11th and 12th Houses of her chart, she has mostly squares and trines aspecting Charles’ planets. Their very few conjunctions, oppositions and inconjuncts don’t add up to the same maelstrom that Charles had with Diana. And the one absolutely overriding connection is the most basic when it comes to a perfect union of individuals: their Ascendants are conjunct @ 5 degrees Leo.
Could you call Charles and Camilla soulmates? Perhaps.
Your astrology compatibility interpretation of the Charles, Diana & Camilla love triangle makes alot of sense! No wonder they say the secret of relationships is written in the stars π
