The First Flight which Defined a Century

The Wright Flyer (December 17, 1903)

I casually mentioned this moment in one of yesterday’s posts. But, up until today, I never thought to raise a chart for this momentous occasion. I wonder why not?

Since the first flight was documented, this is an accurate chart in every aspect. So, what do we see? A double Yod pointing at Neptune with its arms from a Mars/Saturn conjunction and the Midheaven. Amazing.

Mars Inconjunct Neptune

With this aspect you must learn to stand up for yourself and demand your (W)rights forthrightly and directly. Often you feel that you don’t have enough energy to assert yourself or that any such effort would be futile. Unfortunately, some people with this aspect learn to work behind the scenes or dishonestly. Others simply give up or take a defeatist attitude toward life.

Sometimes this aspect operates on the physical plane as well. You may have a generally low energy level and feel tired all the time but not able to sleep because of nervousness. You may actually need more sleep than others, and if so, you should try to get it. (This aspect may also indicate that you tend to have allergies and infection.)

Saturn Inconjunct Neptune

This aspect […] can have a variety of effects, one of which may be difficulty in relating fantasy and imagination, on one hand, to reality, duty, obligation and work, on the other. Usually the reality, duty and work aspect of the combination is dominant, at least at first. Your imaginative side tends to be transformed into nervousness, fear and irrational anxieties. The most negative manifestation of this aspect is a feeling that you have to keep a tight lid on yourself and that if you look inside yourself too closely, you will find only emptiness and disintegration. It is difficult for you to realize that this is not the truth about your inner self.

Neptune Inconjunct Midheaven

When you feel rebellious and unwilling to accept anything you are told, you should be allowed, within reason, to have the experience that will help you understand your elders’ point of view. If you are lucky enough to have parents who let you do this, you will eventually get over your childhood resentment of being told what to do. Although you may not always agree with what they tell you, at least you will consider the merits of their ideas.

Certainly you will discover your own routes to what you want in life. Now you need to be given the confidence and encouragement to look for those routes on your own with total freedom.

Mars Conjunct Saturn

You often feel frustrated, as though you think the whole world has stacked the deck against you. And when you feel very frustrated, you have difficulty expressing your anger; it seems to burn intensely inside you with no way to release it. On the other hand, you have a great ability to make a sustained effort. Once you get into a project, you carry on until it is completely finished. You are capable of great self-discipline.

And aren’t we glad that the Wright Brothers made four attempts that day to see the experiment through to completion (which happened @ about 12 noon that same day)?

This is what their father said:

The brothers countered with:

And this:

Now do you see how astrology gets behind the scenes to show us what is really happening?
