When The King Met “Thumper”

Ann-Margret Meets Elvis (July 9, 1963)

Still from “Bambi”

Her nickname was “Thumper” which is a hint at the juvenile relationship between Elvis and Ann-Margret. Their first meeting was on-set, but most sources are vague when it comes to the date and time: early July, 1963. Only one source states the date as July 9th at the recording studio, so that is the date I’m using here, and I’ve set the clock for noon.

This is no ordinary day. There is a double Yod (Finger of God) pointing at Mars in the 12th House. The Moon and Saturn are one side and Jupiter is on the other.

Moon Inconjunct Mars

Your relationship with your mother is especially important. If you and she don’t get along in some important way, you will have similar problems with other women when you get older. If you are a girl, you may prefer the company of boys now and men later. If you are a boy, you may have serious problems getting along with women when you are older. In either case, you are likely to be very aggressive and unpleasant when you are emotionally upset.

Mars Inconjunct Jupiter

With this aspect you probably are quite active, with abundant energy for anything you want to do. But you must learn how to control your energies rather than have them control you. You may be inclined to take excessive risks, to try out things that you are not quite sure you can do. But be careful, because with this aspect the energies of Mars and Jupiter do not work very smoothly together. If you overextend yourself and try to do more than you are physically capable of, you may have an accident. Also you may be clumsy when you take up a new activity until you learn to control your physical body better.

You have a great need for personal freedom also. But while you are young, you may not be very responsible about the way you use your freedom. You may take too many liberties or even interfere with other people’s freedom. Here again the problem is rashness and lack of self-control.

Mars Inconjunct Saturn

This can be a difficult aspect because it signifies a conflict between your sense of responsibility and your desire to fulfill your own needs and do what you want. This leads to a struggle within you that may keep you from acting decisively. Instead of deciding what you will do, you feel caught between these two forces, wondering whether you have the right to do what you want. You may feel that others are trying to frustrate you, but it is only your own indecisiveness that is causing the trouble. Sometimes this conflict makes you very irritable and resentful about nothing in particular. Then, when someone happens to act in a way that is obviously annoying, you focus all your built-up anger on that person.

Moon Conjunct Saturn

This is a very important aspect, and its effects depend heavily on how your parents feel about you. Unless you have a great deal of emotional support from your parents, especially your mother, you will grow up feeling unworthy, doubting your abilities and being unable to live easily with your emotions. Unfortunately, this aspect indicates that you are very sensitive to any coldness from your mother. If you do not have a close rapport with her, or if she is physically absent, as may be the case with this aspect, you should find another person who can take her place in your life.

The Intersection of These Two People and the “Event”

So, is it an accident, or fate? I would suggest fate because of the ‘accidental’ timing of the ‘event’ Ascendant, although that could change as the day wears on. It is conjunct Ann-Margret’s North Node, which we noted previously is also conjunct Ann-Margret’s Neptune and Elvis’ Midheaven. It’s obvious, isn’t it? Elvis needed Ann-Margret, and she needed him.

At any rate, they became ‘twitterpated’.
