The Greatest Female Spy of All Time?

Mata Hari (August 7, 1876 – October 15, 1917)

If you were hoping for something more salacious, you needn’t have come to this post. There are plenty of photos of Mata Hari in various states of undress on the internet. Strangely, she’s been on my mind lately, so I was not too surprised to see her referenced in a passage from Inayat Khan’s life story.

Initially, their public performances centered on Indian music and they accompanied dancers such as Mata Hari and Ruth St. Denis in both America and Europe.

The Spiritual Message of Hazrat Inayat Khan

(And that, my friends, is how my intuition works: I get a nagging thought which won’t go away, and then during some casual research, the person’s name comes up. Then I have to look into their life.)

This is not a reincarnational astrology post, just so you understand why I’m doing it. Noor Inayat Khan may have really been the greatest female spy of all time, but I wanted to see why Margaretha Geertruida MacLeod (née Zelle; 7 August 1876 – 15 October 1917), better known by the stage name Mata Hari would have chosen to be a spy in the first place.

This chart is randomized. I originally though that I might move the time of her birth to allow Neptune or Pluto to take centre stage, as it were. The position of her Part of Fortune @ 0° Cancer suggests that her execution at age 41 was exactly what her life’s purpose was, strange as that might seem. The interconnected Yods (Fingers of God) are totally reliant on 3:06:33 pm being the correct birth time, so we cannot totally rely on the story they tell us.

Saturn Inconjunct Midheaven

This aspect indicates that you very much need a positive relationship with your parents, especially your father. You should not be disciplined sternly unless you are given lots of love at the same time. Otherwise, giving and receiving love from others will be a real problem for the rest of your life. Unless you are truly supported by your family and friends, you will begin to feel lonely and isolated from others and inferior to them. Also you are likely to have very serious difficulties with authority figures, because you are afraid of how they will treat you, not expecting that anyone will ever give you the loving guidance you need. You will see all authorities only as potential threats to your freedom and as sources of pain and trouble.

Neptune Inconjunct Ascendant

This aspect can be a sign that you feel you must give way to others in order to get along with them. This can take two forms, both of which will be difficult to handle while you are young. The less positive form is simply yielding to all outside pressure and always giving in to others’ desires. This will produce unconscious feelings of resentment that you can’t express, but that make your relationships with others rather difficult. And as you get older, if you do not learn to stand up for your rights, this problem will get worse, because you express your unconscious resentment as a martyred attitude, which makes it impossible for others to appreciate or use anything they get from you. Thus the results of your sacrifice are totally negative, because you are not happy with giving and they are not happy with receiving.

Neptune Inconjunct Midheaven

While you are young, you won’t have a clear idea of what you want to do with your life. In fact you may never orient your life around a single idea of purpose. But don’t worry. Your purpose in life may not be one that is readily defined in terms of a career or profession. More important may be your style of living or your experience of life. Simply learn to always be aware and to learn whatever there is to be learned. With your sensitivity and intuition you can understand much more than other people, especially those who have wrapped their lives around their career or profession.

Her Execution has an Accurate Time, Just Before Dawn

There is one inconjunct connecting Venus and Pluto, which implies that it was her blatant femininity that really was her crime. By all accounts the trial was mostly circumstantial, and the charges trumped up. When we compare her birth and death charts, we’ll see how accurate in timing everything was.

Her ‘fatal’ Pluto and South Node conjunction is within 5° of her natal Part of Fortune. I’m also mindful that her natal Sun is situated on the Lion’s Gate. She wasn’t afraid to die, even blowing one last kiss at the executioners, after refusing a blindfold. That’s the effect of the Leo Sun.

Exactly!
