Fred and Rose West: A British Horror Story (2025)

We watched this three part documentary on Netflix last night. I’m surprised that I didn’t have nightmares about it afterwards. However, as with most documentaries, this one wasn’t made sensational by the producers. The British press had already done that in 1994.

One has to ask: how could someone do that stuff? And, along the way, make his wife an accessory.

Fred West (September 29, 1941 – January 1, 1995)

When I first randomized his birth chart, the timing came out as 8:52 am. And just to show you how this randomization totally works for me, I finally checked other sites and found one that had 8:30 am, so I’m reverting to that, because it brings a Mars opposition to the Ascendant into line, and that’s where his temper comes from. The double inconjunct from Mercury to his Saturn/Uranus conjunction in the 8th House (of Death) probably gave him a penchant for clever solutions to his nefarious actions.

When It All Fell Apart (February 25, 1994)

At 11:15 that morning, Fred formally admitted to police he had indeed killed his daughter, albeit in an act of manslaughter. He confessed to strangling Heather in a fit of rage, then dismembering her body in the ground floor bathroom with a heavy serrated knife he normally used for cutting slabs of frozen meat. Her remains had been stored in a dustbin as he waited for an opportunity to dig her grave. Fred was insistent his wife had no knowledge of her daughter’s murder, claiming he had committed this murder as Rose was preoccupied with one of her clients, adding the fact the search team had not yet unearthed Heather’s remains was because they had been excavating the wrong section of his garden. He then volunteered to accompany police to the house to pinpoint the precise location of Heather’s body.

Because his confession came so suddenly, I wondered why, until I saw the chart: Uranus conjunct Neptune (in the 8th House (of Death) became inconjunct to the Ascendant at that moment. At the same time, Pluto was also inconjunct the Ascendant, forming a Yod (Finger of God). Time’s up!

Just for fun, I compared Fred’s birth chart to his “Admission” chart and wasn’t too surprised:

The transiting planets are significant: his natal Moon is conjunct the event’s Uranus; the event South Node is conjunct his natal Saturn, which is also in opposition to the event Pluto/North Node conjunction. His natal Venus is conjunct the event’s Jupiter. Motivation to protect Rose at all costs may have been behind his action that day.

He ended up committing suicide by hanging himself in his jail cell on New Year’s Day 1995. He took the coward’s way out. And, as always, the British press decided to make a meal out of his death.
