Or Wishful Thinking?
“We’re all going to hell in a handcart”
There’s been another flurry of interest in the End of the World. This time it will happen 33 days after the Great American Solar Eclipse on the 21st of August, this year.
To put this into perspective, one of the comments on a website dedicated to Nibiru Times, called the launch of the latest North Korean missile a ‘distraction’. (Pot calling the kettle black?)
Here is the News
According to the Daily Express:
Prophecies say the upcoming solar eclipse on August 21 is a sign of the impending doom brought by Planet X, also known as Nibiru in September.
The Nibiru Cataclysm myth dates back to 1976, when writer Zecharia Sitchin claimed that two ancient Middle Eastern cultures – the Babylonians and Sumerians – told of the giant Nibiru which orbited the Sun every 3,600 years.
Self-proclaimed extraterrestrial psychic Nancy Lieder then warned Nibiru would crash into Earth or pass it causing huge earthquakes and tidal waves from the gravitation pull.
Various alleged dates for a strike with Earth have come and gone.
So what is the truth?
Scientists have evidence of the Neptune-sized mystery planet orbiting our sun in a highly elongated orbit far beyond Pluto.
“It’s in the Bible!”
The Bible is used by Christian Fundamentalists to ‘prove’ that whatever is going to happen in the future was foretold by God. That may be true, to an extent, but the hour and the day cannot be known because ‘only God knows’.
The full text of Revelation, Chapter 12 is as follows:
The Woman and the Dragon
12 A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. 2 She was with child and cried out in labor and in pain to give birth. 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: There was a great red dragon with seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. 4 His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven, and threw them to the earth. The dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as He was born. 5 She gave birth to a male Child, “who was to rule all nations with an iron scepter.”[a] And her Child was caught up to God and to His throne. 6 The woman fled into the wilderness where she has a place prepared by God, that they may nourish her there for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.
7 Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they did not prevail, nor was there a place for them in heaven any longer. 9 The great dragon was cast out, that ancient serpent called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world. He was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.
10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying:
“Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God
and the authority of His Christ have come,
for the accuser of our brothers,
who accused them before our God day and night,
has been cast down.
11 They overcame him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony,
and they loved not their lives
unto the death.
12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens,
and you who dwell in them!
Woe unto the inhabitants of the earth and the sea!
For the devil has come down to you in great wrath,
because he knows that his time is short.”
13 When the dragon saw that he was cast down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14 The woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is to be nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. 15 Then the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. 16 But the earth helped the woman. The earth opened its mouth and swallowed the flood which the dragon spewed out of his mouth. 17 Then the dragon was angry with the woman, and he went to wage war with the remnant of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
(Just a reminder here that this passage was written in the symbolic language of Jewish prophecy – for those with ‘eyes that see’; the “Elect” will be the only ones who fully understand the clues given. The rest of us can only guess.)
“It’s Written in the Stars!”
The premise is that there is a particular alignment of planets which confirms the above-noted passage in Revelation. Evidently, this configuration only happens every 7,000 years!
Again, we humans look to the Heavens for direction and understanding in times of confusion and worry. But the tendency is to take the word of others for what is happening, without doing any of their own research. In this case, the hope is that the Second Coming of Jesus Christ is imminent.
This misunderstanding relates, again, to Jewish Messianism. According to my calculations, Jesus was born on the 6th of January 6 BC, at least two years before Herod the Great died in 4 BC. Those who presume he was born exactly when the Christian Era began in 1 AD, have decided that Regulus must have been involved in the birthing of a King, as represented by Jupiter. So when they go back to the past looking for it, they see a configuration in late 3 BC early 2 BC which ‘fits’ their hypotheses.
That then justifies their ‘timing’ of his Second Coming.
Why are we so hell-bent on destruction? Have we all come to the conclusion that the Earth isn’t salvageable? Have we given up hope?
It’s as if we need a reboot of the computer program, à la The Matrix. As I have often warned in these pages: Be careful what you ask for; you just might get it!
