United We Stand, Divided We Fall
There’s going to be a Global Climate Strike!
To us older generations, this is confusing. We thought we only protested war, racial injustice and political fraud. Oh, and the whaling industry. We mustn’t forget them: Jacques Cousteau and the Calypso ship.
You see, we believe that there is nothing new under the sun, and that everything that went before will come ’round again. Climate change is different. But is it, really?
Young People have Seen Where This is Going
My second wife, Suzann, was an environmental activist in the 80’s. She was the local coordinator of Friends of the Earth (FoE) in Torquay, UK. She wanted to help clean up the earth, starting in our own backyard. (She also joined Fountain International, and invited me along for the ride.)
So, I know a thing or two about Global Warming/Cooling/Whatever…
This environmental ‘movement’ has been around for almost 40 years now. So, why the sudden upsurge in protest marches and young people speaking at the United Nations?
Because, the children want the earth to continue to support human life, and they think what we grownups are doing is threatening their very survival. Nothing focuses the mind more effectively than the threat of extinction. In other words, fear.
Who is Driving this School Bus?
Like all good news stories, there has to be a hook, to get peoples’ attention.
Global climate activists, including Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg, participate in the United Nations 2019 Climate Action Summit, ahead of the annual United Nations General Assembly meeting of world leaders. The aim of the summit is to encourage countries to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement and develop realistic plans and contributions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2020.
The Main Stream Media (MSM) decided that Greta Thunberg was the one person everybody should know about. And because she is only 16 years of age, the youth of the world decided to back her. So, there will be a Global Climate Strike very soon.
Image is Everything
There is so much I could say about this picture. Note the crossed arms, the cupped hands.
But the biggest shock is the juxtaposition of a political giant and a little girl. This makes it feel like the battle between David and Goliath for the 21st Century.
The fact that one is a young white Swedish woman, and the other an older black American man makes this also seem like the global battle of the sexes (and the rest).
I’m sorry if that seems offensive, but when I’m being manipulated, I respond with how it feels to me.
Saturn Conjunct Pluto
I noted elsewhere that this year would see the gradual buildup of energy between these two planets until something (or someone) gives way. Saturn stands for government and controls, Pluto for change and (sometimes) revolution. (And don’t forget: WAR!)
Here’s what Robert Hand says about these conjunct planets in Planets in Youth:
Some persons with this aspect respond to the changes that must come in life with fierce resistance. You will have to cultivate the attitude of letting nature take its course, instead of building up structures to prevent change. If you do resist changes, it will only delay the inevitable and make the changes much more painful when they happen, even resulting in very severe deprivations. But if you allow changes to take place in your life, your inner fortitude will help you through any difficult times.
Here ends the lesson.
