April 21, 753 BCE @ 9:00 am local time
As legend would have it, Romulus and Remus found Rome. (OK. That sounds just like something written in 1066 and All That. But you get what I mean.) Along the way, it was decided that it was on this day in 753 BCE that it happened. And then the twins fought each other for supremacy and Romulus won, by killing his brother: fratricide.
If their father was truly Mars, then I guess that makes perfect sense. But is it true?
The Gregorian calendar changes the date to April 13th, so that’s unfortunate (for some). The time I chose was the start of the business day. If I’d chosen 6 am, the result would have been quite different.
So, fortunately for me, the Ascendant is in the last 3 minutes of Gemini. That seems auspicious. And there’s only one inconjunct:
Saturn Inconjunct Neptune
This aspect can have a variety of effects, one of which may be difficulty in relating fantasy and imagination, on one hand, to reality, duty, obligation and work, on the other. Usually the reality, duty and work aspect of the combination is dominant, at least at first. Your imaginative side tends to be transformed into nervousness, fear and irrational anxieties. The most negative manifestation of this aspect is a feeling that you have to keep a tight lid on yourself and that if you look inside yourself too closely, you will find only emptiness and disintegration. It is difficult for you to realize that this is not the truth about your inner self.
It’s interesting that the United States of America styles itself as the reincarnation of the Republic of Rome.
So, where is Mars? It’s @ 21º Pisces in the 10th House.
Mars: Military leaders; surgeons; persons liable to die; engineers; agitators, incendiaries, criminals and crimes of violence; epidemics of infectious and contagious diseases; wars.
Mars in Pisces
You are quite sensitive, and if you aren’t feeling cheerful, you don’t have much energy. People with Mars in Pisces often require more sleep at night than others do.
The chief problem with this position is that it is difficult for you to be very self-assertive. You may let people take advantage of you because you are unsure that you are right or justified in going ahead with your own plans. You may shrink from people who are overbearing and domineering, which may make you either ignore their actions or try to get around them secretly. This last tendency should be watched very carefully. If you try to get away with acting behind other people’s backs, you will gradually undermine their confidence in you. They will not know whether you are actually doing what you appear to be doing.
But there is a better side to this placement of Mars, which will be seen as you get older and more sure of yourself. You will be able to act more unselfishly and do things for others with less consideration for yourself. You don’t have a great need to be the best, or on top or terribly successful, so you are able to work for others without your own ambitions getting in the way. This is not to say that you cannot be successful; you have as much potential for success as anyone. In addition, the people you have helped may be so grateful that they will help you in return, as long as you don’t imply, either by words or actions, that you expect it. That is very important.
Mars in the Tenth House
You want to get ahead in life, and you will work very hard to get there. Even while you are young, you plan to get the proper training to achieve what you want. Your career will be very important to you, and the time to plan for it is now.
However, while you are still in the learning stage, you should be careful how you treat authority figures. You don’t automatically respect all adults, because you have very high standards for others as well as for yourself. You respect only those people who are clearly successful at whatever they do. Teachers and others whom you see as less than successful will not find you very cooperative, which may get you into trouble at times. When you are older, you may have the same trouble with employers. For this reason you should probably look for a career in which you can be self-employed or else have a great deal of independent authority.
This position of Mars suggests several kinds of jobs, especially those that require a lot of physical energy or hard work. It is appropriate to working with metal or sharp cutting instruments. It also helps in any field requiring independent and original work. Mars here will give you the courage to act on your own, without waiting for someone else to tell you what to do.
Speaking of Mars reminds me of the fact that Donald Trump is (possibly) the reincarnation of Emperor Nero…
Enough said?
