A Man of Many Talents, Not the Least as an Explorer

Sir Walter Raleigh (January 22, 1552 – Oct 29, 1618)

Even though John Lennon cursed him for importing tobacco from the colonies, this gentleman was one of the most famous Englishman to live during the Elizabethan era.

The timing of this chart has been rectified to mark the occasion of his Knighthood @ age 33 (Saturn). The resulting double inconjunct shows how restless he was all his life.

Jupiter Inconjunct Pluto

You have a great deal of creative power, and the major challenge of your life will be learning how to handle it. If you use the energies of this aspect selfishly, you will have serious conflicts with authorities, persons in power and adults in general. You may try to make changes before you have learned to do so creatively, without provoking such resistance that your efforts are blocked. To be effective, you must have the necessary skills.

You may have a natural talent for dominating others, but don’t fall in love with this talent and be motivated by it. You can be effective at influencing people only if you use your power to help others and yourself achieve desirable goals together. You must be an agent for betterment at all time, and even so you must listen to others’ ideas about betterment to be sure that you aren’t just seeking power in a more roundabout manner.

Jupiter Conjunct Ascendant

You like to be free to have as many different kinds of experiences as possible. As a result, your life is likely to be more varied than most. With this same energy, you will probably travel or live in many different places during your life, and in each place you will get to know the local customs and habits almost as if they were your own.

You also enjoy traveling in your mind, exploring all kinds of ideas and considering many different ways of thinking. Your range of thought is broader than most people’s, and even while you are young, grown-ups will be surprised by your interest in a wide variety of subjects.

For the most part, you are very tolerant of other people’s ways, except perhaps concerning ethical behavior. Even as a young person, your ideas of right and wrong are well defined. Your code of ethics may be different from other people’s, but it is nonetheless strong. As long as people don’t break your rules, you let them be. But if someone violates your sense of ethics, you get quite angry and even unforgiving, unless the person in question is extremely apologetic and sorry for his or her actions.

He Lost His Head, Due to Others’ Actions

The timing of this chart is randomized, and yet an interesting Yod presents itself: Neptune inconjunct Pluto inconjunct Midheaven. You just cannot ignore the fact that the Pluto inconjunct Ascendant in Raleigh’s birth chart hinted at choosing your friends wisely. Obviously, they were his undoing, in the end.
